The most recent research in Neuroscience shows that Cognitive Therapy with Mindfulness, applied in WeMind, is capable of modulating the function and structure of various brain circuits.
One of these studies, conducted by Dr. Sara Lazar, a neuroscientist at Harvard Medical School, demonstrated that after only 8 weeks of Mindfulness training, there is already an increase in gray matter in 4 brain regions:
Posterior
Cingulate::
area involved in self-control, attention, and emotional regulation;
Left
Hippocampus:
important area for learning and memory;
Temporo-Parietal
Junction:
area associated with empathy and compassion;
Brainstem
associated with primitive and vital functions such as sleep.
Additionally, there was a significant decrease in the gray matter of the Cerebral Amygdala, a region associated with feelings of fear and anxiety.
In other words, the practice of therapy has the power to strengthen our brain in areas that are important for focus, empathy, compassion, social ability, and emotional regulation, as well as improving our response to fear and stress.
